Steve Boyd

STEVE BOYD

THE STORY SO FAR...

Since taking to the turntables in the early nineties Belfast based DJ, Steve Boyd has became a leading light in the Irish dance music scene.

Steve's universal approach to dance music has witnessed his involvement in many of its incarnations and genres. Steve's involvement in the early progressive house scene led him to headline gigs at London's Leisure Lounge, Imperial Gardens, Gardening Club and Velvet Rooms. Gigs across the UK and Ireland followed at Edinburgh's Honeycomb, Dublin's POD & Kitchen and Manchester's Tangled. During this time Steve held down a residency at the seminal 'Code One' events at Belfast's Thompsons Garage. Steve was also a key player at hundreds of illegal 'All Nighters' across Ireland. Throughout this period Steve played alongside Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Nick Warren, Lee Burridge, Gordon Kaye, Slam, Anthony Pappa and countless others. The eventual dulling down of this particular genre resulted in Steve starting his own night, 'Rocket Science'. Still running today, the night mashes up Breaks, Electro, Techno & House.

Steve's forays into the soulful US sound have almost run in tandem with that of dance music's tougher sound. A ten-year residency at Thompsons Garage has given him the perfect opportunity to push the funky side of house to the masses on a weekly basis. Steve current residency at the club's 'Stereo' event remains Belfast's only regular American House affair. Famed for his six-hour sets at 'Stereo', Steve has also performed with some of the biggest names in the US scene. Guest DJ's at Stereo read like a who's who of the genre; Tony Humphries, Roger Sanchez, Joey Negro, Miguel Migs, Francois K, Danny Krivit, Angel Moraes, Grant Nelson, DJ Gregory, Graeme Park, Jazzy M, CJ Mackintosh, Seamus Haji, Ashley Beedle and many more have joined Steve at the turntables.

When not at the helm of Thompsons Garage Steve regularly spins across the UK and beyond. Over the years he has headlined gigs at Cardiff's L'America, Derby's Blend, Manchester's Slammin Sessions, Brighton's Everyday People, Edinburgh's Stereotype, Birmingham's Crunch, London's Area & Ministry of Sound. Steve has also brought high-grade house music to Russia where he has built up a loyal fan base for his frequent visits. Steve also holds down monthly residencies for 'Renaissance' & 'Tokyo Disco'.
