DJ Tynee
This slightly hyper talented DJ, real name Elaine Shin, grew up in New York and started clubbing when the house music scene there was relatively new and most of today's legendary DJ's were just starting to make a name. New York legends like Louie Vega from Masters At Work, radio jock DJ Red Alert and Canadian DJ Deadly Hedley gave Tynee her taste of underground club music, and from then on she was hooked. And this passion grew as she grew up and became obsessed and in love with many genres of dance music. This obsession contributed to her knowledge of the different labels, producers and of course the tunes that the DJs spin before she went near the DJ booth herself. Music is the love of her life and the people around her all know that. Nothing comes between her and her love for DJing and music.
By the time Tynee had returned to Hong Kong in the mid 90's, a small, fledgling group of DJ's and promoters were starting to form HK's first international rave events and dedicated club nights. Through a love of nightlife, clubbing, and music, Tynee found herself attending the events held the defining DJs and promoters of that period, such as Andrew Bull and Joel Lai. As the scene began to explode, led by booming after-parties with DJ Christian at Big Apple as well as Lee Burridge at Neptune's, Tynee's appetite and passion for club music only got more fierce. It wasn't long before she was amassing an enviable collection of vinyl herself, and secured all the necessary equipment to start the career of a DJ. The clubbing community saw a quick learning curve for Tynee and very soon Tynee started touring outside of Hong Kong.
The past 12 months witnessed Tynee emerge as one of the most toughest and sexiest new DJs in Hong Kong. She is currently one of the resident DJs at Hong Kong's IT club VOLAR. At Volar, she plays alongside Hong Kong's top DJs plus international DJs that the club brings in regularly. Concurrently she spins at 1/5 on weekends. Having played regularly at Homebase, Joint 15, L'Apartment, Club 97, etc..she's also already been invited to headline parties in China as far as Guilin, Hainan Island, and Thailand. Her style of music is as diverse as the history of dance music itself, drawing on her own experience as a clubbing veteran. But her preferred style can be described as a very sexy, funky, and downright dirty set of breakbeats and house music. This could include anything from sultry vocal tracks to frantic tribal beats and sounds. Overall, Tynee brings an atmosphere of primal energy and sensual drama to any club she plays for, whether in Hong Kong or abroad.
